Site Help

Q. I can't read the site. The layout is jumbled and text is sometimes hidden and sometimes flows into the background.

A. Does it look something like this?

If so, you are probably using Internet Explorer for Macintosh. This browser has significant bugs that make it virtually impossible to provide presentable pages using modern Web standards. Microsoft has announced that it will no longer support IE for Mac, so it is orphan software that will never be upgraded to meet new Web standards. Consider using Safari (included in the Mac OS) or Firefox for Mac. If your problem is not related to IE Mac, you may have an older browser. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version. The site should display correctly in all current browsers.

Q. The type is too small. How do you expect me to read this?

A. Your Web developer is of an age to require reading glasses. He can still read this site, but is sensitive to the needs of those who can't. That's why there is a link on the left under "Page Tools." Click on "Larger Type" and your large-type preference will be saved for your convenience every time you visit the site.

Q. I selected the larger type option, but now I want it back to the default type. How do I do this?

A. Select the "Print" option next to "Larger Type." After you see the print page, select "Return to the Web page." This will cancel out your larger-type cookie.

Q. Some of the links don't do anything when I click them.

A. Could it be that you have a pop-up blocker installed on your computer? Some links open new browser windows, and your software may be forbidding that, thinking they are advertisements. As a general rule, links to Web sites outside the Archdiocesan site will be specified to open in a new browser window, and your pop-up block option may be blocking that.

Q. I have a great Web site I would like linked from the Archdiocesan site. Will you do that for me?

A. The Archdiocese has a policy that links to external sites may be offered on this site contextually, that is, they must relate to a particular section. If you think your site would offer something to our users, please contact the department ot the section you think it would best fit into.

Q. We have an event we would like included in the Archdiocesan Calendar. How do we do that?

A. Contact the department you feel your event is related to. They will have the final say on what events go into the calendar related to their area of ministry.

Q. The information for my parish or school listing is wrong.

A. Only clergy or staff of an Archdiocesan insitution is authorized to request a correction. Offer to help your pastor, principal or other staff correct the listing through the Archdiocesan intranet with their log-in information.

Q. I know something about making Web pages and would like to help a department or ministry create a new site.

A. Many offices of the Archdiocese would welcome a volunteer to help update pages. Please realize that Archdiocesan policy does not permit separate sites for ACC offices, nor does the Archdiocesan Web policy permit use of any unapproved stand-alone programs to revise any section of this site. If you would like to learn how you can help, please contact the appropriate department.

Q. When I click on an e-mail link, nothing happens.

A. You must specify an e-mail program to use when you clisk on a Web page e-mail link. See the preferences options in your browser.

Q. What if I have aquestion that hasn't been answered?

A. You are welcome to use our Feedback Form.
