The International Institute If Theological And Tribunal Studies In The Archdiocese Of Los Angeles Course In Adult Children Of Al
This course provides students with an opportunity to understand the effects of being an adult child of an alcoholic, particularly its effects on relationships, and marriage in particular. For those who work in marriage tribunals the course will provide an opportunity to better understand how the family dynamic of alcoholism affects marriage validity. COURSE OUTLINE: I.Characteristics of non-alcoholic and alcoholic families II.The affects of alcoholism of the family system III. Characteristics of the Adult Child IV. The roles that Adult Children assume in order to maintain psychological equilibrium V. Psychological Deficits and Lags in the Adult Child that adversely affects interpersonal relationships such as marriage VI. Treatment approaches to filling in psychological deficits and lags
